Thomas Tai

Head of Academics

Hello and welcome, the most esteemed delegates! I’m Thomas Tai, currently an eleventh grader of the National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park, and I’m also thrilled to be the Head of Academic for NEMUN 2026. As I remembered, I finished my first opening speech with nerves and stress, and was not courageous enough to question any statements from others. However, one after another, my confidence grew, and I became more enjoyable in every debate and POI. Throughout my Model United Nations journey, what truly inspired me were the enthusiastic mindsets in domestic as well as international affairs, meaningful debates and negotiations, and most importantly, the brilliant delegates from different high schools. This year’s main topic—  Peace at Risk: Navigating the New Age of Conflict and Diplomacy not only describes the ongoing dilemma between armed conflict and diplomatic means, but also requires every talented delegate to collaborate, negotiate, and come up with creative solutions enhancing global security and sustainability. As the Head of Academic, I strongly believe that NEMUN is a fabulous opportunity where both beginner MUNers and experienced delegates can immerse themselves in meaningful debates and rewarding discussions. Delegates, please immerse yourselves in NEMUN 2026 and stand for your nations’ stances while being confident in every decision you make and having fun during this two-day conference. Together, we can learn from each other and make NEMUN a greater platform for enthusiasts in MUN conferences.

Zyl Cheng

Co-Head of Academics

Ladies and Gentlemen, and the most distinguished delegates, I am the Co-head of Academics of NEMUN2026, and here, I like to express my deepest welcome to each and every one of you for coming. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Zyl, a student at National Experimental high in Hsinchu, also a member of the NEHSMUN team. To start, I love to argue, as a student and as a delegate. Not because I enjoy the disagreement, but find the way of thinking and ideas that come out mid-fight quite amusing, challenging the indestructible has always been a part of me. It was then I started Model UN, surrounded by sharp thinkers and speakers, MUN satisfied my nature of being a tough cookie. Fighting in a literic battlefield where logic is the weapon, persuasion is the shield, and confidence decides who survives. Words and discussions are powerful, using logical arguments and emotional appeal together to shift the direction of discussion and push resolutions that actually stand firm under pressure. I personally, consider myself good at storytelling, when words are wrapped into stories it is much easier to resonate with, and makes it matter. So, to all delegates present today. Consider NEMUN as an opportunity to improve yourself and make the time worthwhile. Learn through every speech, every discussion, every clash between two arguments. Believe what you are doing is for the greater good of your country and prove it to us. Step into the committee bold and prepared, defend your stance like it matters, because here, it does. Impress us delegate, let us see your passion for being the best of the best. With all that, welcome to NEMUN.

Cedric Hsu

Head of Administration

Hi there, exceptional delegates and enthusiastic participants, welcome to NEMUN 2026! My name is Cedric, currently a junior in NEHS, and it is my deepest pleasure to serve as your Head of Administration this year. Once upon a time, when I was completely a novice at Model United Nations, I nervously and clumsily gave my first opening speech with my voice trembling. That is how my MUN journey started. However, through one conference after another, I not only gradually became adept at speaking, but also gained more confidence from numerous MUN experiences, allowing me to grow into a delegate capable of standing on my own.  Now, MUN is not merely a club activity or a competition, but nevertheless, has become a space where I learned to step out of my comfort zone, growing alongside people who share the same passion for global affairs. Inspired by countless wonderful MUN experiences in the past, although I am not able to provide academic-related support, I am still fully committed to preparing NEMUN 2026 and will spare no effort to guarantee a well-organized and enriching conference experience.  I also believe that with a professional organizing team and the participation of passionate delegates, NEMUN 2026 will be a conference of high academic quality and an unforgettable experience. I am looking forward to you all having a precious MUN conference at NEMUN 2026, one that encourages you to move forward firmly toward your goals. Hope to see you at the conference!

Claire Huang

Co-Head of Administration

Hi, my name is Claire, currently an eleventh grader at National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park (NEHS), and I am the Co-Head of Administration of NEMUN 2026. I still remember my first MUN—the nervous anticipation before walking into the room, the unfamiliar faces, and the quiet hope that I would find my place among them. What stayed with me most was not just the debates, but how much a well-prepared team behind the scenes shaped that experience. This semester, I had the opportunity to serve as the Chief Organizer of the Five-School MUN Orientation, where I worked on planning, coordination, and countless small discussions. Through this experience, I learned how to manage details, align different teams, and stay flexible when things did not go exactly as planned. As Co-Head of Administration, I hope to create an environment where every participant feels supported and can fully focus on learning and engaging in MUN.
