SECRETARIATS
Diana Hsieh
Secretary-General
Greetings, distinguished delegates. Welcome to NEMUN 2026. I’m Diana, a student just like you—someone who has followed global conflicts, watched diplomacy struggle, and questioned what peace truly means today. It is an honor to serve as the Secretary-General of NEMUN 2026.
The world we examine is complex and uncertain. Conflict is evolving, diplomacy is under strain, and peace can no longer be taken for granted. NEMUN 2026 was created as a space to pause, reflect, and engage thoughtfully with these global challenges. Our theme, “Peace at Risk: Navigating the New Age of Conflict and Diplomacy,” captures this moment. As international relations grow more complicated, understanding how diplomacy adapts is as important as debating solutions. This conference is not about speaking the loudest or reaching quick conclusions. It is about asking meaningful questions, listening to diverse perspectives, and recognizing the responsibility behind global decision-making. I hope NEMUN 2026 will be both challenging and inspiring—a place where ideas are taken seriously, connections are built, and perspectives continue to grow beyond this conference.
Thank you, and welcome to NEMUN 2026.

Josie Lai
Deputy-Secretary-General
Welcome, distinguished guests. I'm Josie Lai, currently a junior at National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park (NEHS). It is an honor to serve as the Deputy Secretary-General of NEMUN. It has been two years since I joined the Model United Nations club at my school. I can still recall my first Model UN experience. My partner and I were scrambling to prepare our research, our opening speeches were unpolished, and my presentation skills were still quite raw. As I attended more sessions, I gained valuable insights from each of them. What fascinated me most was not only the formal debates, but also the clash of ideas behind them. When delegates from different backgrounds and positions come together, learning how to negotiate while safeguarding their own national interests becomes a question well worth exploring. Model United Nations stimulates the mind, broadens horizons, and expands networks. Best of luck to all delegates. It is my pleasure to welcome you, and I look forward to seeing you showcase your perspectives on the NEMUN stage and leave with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
